Authenticated server crash via retried transactional upsert
Published Sep 5, 2025 · Updated Sep 5, 2025
Denial of service in MongoDB Server 6.0 before 6.0.25, 7.0 before 7.0.22, and 8.0 before 8.0.12 allows remote authenticated users to crash the server. Retrying an upsert inside a transaction mishandles WriteUnitOfWork state, permits a unique-index violation, and reaches an invariant failure during commit. A database user able to issue the crafted transactional write can interrupt service by terminating the mongod process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
