Arbitrary file overwrite via symbolic-link redirection
Published May 15, 2025 · Updated Apr 13, 2026
Execution with unnecessary privileges in affected Mitsubishi Electric automation products allows local users to overwrite arbitrary files. At least the Pager Agent's privileged SMS logger follows an attacker-created symbolic link at its configured log destination and writes alert data into the linked target. An authenticated local account needs control of that destination; corrupting a critical Windows binary can trap the host in automatic repair after reboot.
