CVE-2025-0870Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Crash via out-of-bounds AC-4 metadata read

Published Jan 30, 2025 · Updated Jan 30, 2025

Heap-based buffer overflow in Bento4 1.6.0-641 allows remote attackers to crash mp42aac via a crafted MP4 file. While parsing an AC-4 sample entry, AP4_BitReader::ReadCache calls AP4_DataBuffer::GetData and reads four bytes past a 12-byte heap allocation. Exploitation requires mp42aac to process the crafted MP4; the published trace demonstrates an out-of-bounds read and process abort, not code execution.
