Unauthenticated code execution via serialized setting parameter
Published Jan 29, 2025 · Updated Jan 31, 2025
Deserialization in Aridius XYZ News for OpenCart through 20240927 allows remote attackers to execute code via unauthenticated requests. The loadMore controller base64-decodes the POST setting parameter and passes it directly to PHP unserialize(), allowing loaded OpenCart gadget chains to instantiate attacker-chosen objects. No account or user interaction is required; the demonstrated chain writes an arbitrary PHP file into the site document root.
