Remote code execution via executable image upload

Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2025

Unrestricted file upload in SMA Sunny Portal Classic before December 19, 2024 allows remote attackers to execute ASPX code via the demo account. The demo account's PV system picture upload accepts an executable .aspx file as an image and places it where the front-end webserver executes it. No authentication or user interaction is required, but execution is confined to the front-end webserver's security context and assigned rights.
