CVE-2025-0695Network attack vector

Component crash via malformed JSON iterator traversal

Published Jan 27, 2025 · Updated Feb 12, 2025

Resource exhaustion in Cesanta Frozen before 1.7 allows remote attackers to crash an embedding component with crafted JSON input. The json_next_elem iterator passes malformed key metadata to next_set_key, which fails to reject null names or negative lengths and continues resource-consuming traversal. Exploitation requires an embedding application to pass attacker-controlled JSON to this API, and the resulting impact is limited to interruption of that host component.
