Account impersonation via three SQL injection paths
Published May 7, 2025 · Updated May 7, 2025
SQL injection in BOINC Server before 1.4.5 allows remote attackers to extract authentication tokens and impersonate users. The tree_threader.php request field and user_agreetermsofuse_action.php tempuserid cookie enter blind SQL queries, while am_set_info.php interpolates consent_name into a time-based query. The first two paths need no authentication; the consent_name path requires a valid account key, and each path can recover another user's authenticator.
