Consumer-process denial of service via entity expansion
Published Jan 29, 2025 · Updated Feb 12, 2025
XML entity expansion in Trellix HX Console allows remote attackers to interrupt the consumer process with crafted detection data. The console parses a malicious detection file whose recursive XML entity references expand exponentially in the consumer process. The structured record identifies 5.1.1 as affected while its description also states 10.0.0 and earlier; network access to submit detection data is required.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
