Local privilege escalation via unchecked ZIP paths
Published Jan 25, 2025 · Updated Feb 12, 2025
Path traversal in G DATA Management Server before 15.8.333 allows local users to write arbitrary files as SYSTEM through a crafted ZIP archive. The Gdmms service invokes an updater that finds a ZIP archive in a user-writable directory, and its unpacking method fails to reject relative paths. A local unprivileged user must place the archive before SYSTEM-context extraction; overwriting privileged files yields privilege escalation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
