CVE-2025-0426

Node service interruption via unauthenticated checkpoint archiving

Published Feb 13, 2025 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Uncontrolled resource consumption in Kubernetes Kubelet allows attackers to exhaust node disk space via unauthenticated checkpoint requests. The read-only HTTP server routes each checkpoint request to the container runtime, which creates another archive beneath the node root without authentication. Exposure requires an affected version, the read-only port, and a checkpoint-capable runtime; repeated archives can fill the disk and interrupt node service.
