Password hash disclosure via world-readable conflict files

Information disclosure in FreeBSD etcupdate allows local users to read restricted system files after an update conflict. When a three-way merge conflicts, etcupdate writes a marker-bearing copy under /var/db/etcupdate/conflicts without preserving the input file's restrictive mode, leaving the copy world-readable. Exposure exists only while a conflict involving a sensitive file such as /etc/master.passwd remains unresolved, and it can disclose encrypted root and user password hashes to an unprivileged account.
