Unauthenticated account takeover via incorrect callback authentication
Published Feb 8, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Authentication bypass in Chimpstudio WP Directorybox Manager 2.5 and earlier allows remote attackers to take over any existing account. The wp_dp_enquiry_agent_contact_form_submit_callback function incorrectly authenticates a supplied username and establishes a session without verifying account credentials. The AJAX path is remotely reachable without authentication, but exploitation requires knowledge of a valid username and grants the permissions of the impersonated account, including administrator access.
