Traffic interception via improper certificate validation
Published Mar 20, 2025 · Updated Mar 20, 2025
Improper certificate validation in HCL Digital Experience 9.5 before CF226 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to intercept or alter traffic. The Ring API and dxclient fail to validate peer TLS certificates properly, allowing an interposed endpoint to be treated as trusted. Exploitation requires high product privileges and a network position between communicating parties; successful attacks expose or modify exchanged data without interrupting service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
