Address-bar spoofing via failed protocol resolution
Published Jan 7, 2025 · Updated Apr 13, 2026
Address-bar spoofing in Mozilla Firefox for Android before 134 allows remote attackers to display a false origin after a crafted redirect. On a redirect to an invalid protocol scheme, the browser updates the address bar before asking Android for a handler, then leaves the attacker-controlled page and spoofed URL visible when protocol resolution fails. Exploitation requires a user to activate a crafted link, after which the page can impersonate a trusted site's address and security indicator.
