Application crash via stale line-break pointers
Published Jan 7, 2025 · Updated Apr 13, 2026
Use-after-free in Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird allows remote attackers to crash the application through crafted line-breaking content. When nsLineBreaker::FlushCurrentWord exits early after a breakState or capitalizationState allocation failure, mTextItems retains pointers to objects that are freed and later dereferenced. The gate is a controlled out-of-memory event; affected releases precede Firefox 134, Firefox ESR 128.6 and 115.19, Thunderbird 134, and Thunderbird 128.6.
