Firewall reboot via unchecked web-proxy packet exceptions
Published May 14, 2025 · Updated May 29, 2026
Denial of service in affected PAN-OS 11.1 and 11.2 releases allows remote attackers to reboot firewalls with crafted packet bursts. PAN-OS omits an exception check while its enabled web-proxy feature processes the malicious traffic, leaving the firewall unresponsive. Exposure requires a web-proxy license and the feature enabled; one successful attempt causes a reboot, while repeated attempts force maintenance mode.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=11.1.0 <11.1.6-h1 changes=[{"at":"11.1.6-h1","status":"unaffected"},{"at":"11.1.7-h2","status":"unaffected"},{"at":"11.1.8","status":"unaffected"}]
