Guest memory corruption via dropped DMA writes
Published Feb 10, 2026 · Updated Feb 10, 2026
Improper error handling in AMD EPYC 9005 firmware allows local users with administrative privileges to corrupt SEV-SNP guest memory. During host-induced faults, the firmware fails to act on an error condition, letting the host selectively discard DMA writes destined for a protected guest. The attacker requires high privileges on the virtualization host, and the reported consequence is limited to loss of guest-memory integrity.
