Unauthenticated account takeover via unchecked user selection
Published Oct 29, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Authentication bypass in ODude Crypto Tool 2.19 and earlier allows remote attackers to take over any account through its WordPress AJAX handler. The crypto_connect_ajax_process::register function accepts a supplied username and establishes that user's authenticated session without validating the caller's identity. Knowledge of an existing username is sufficient, and selecting an administrator account grants administrative control.
