Unauthenticated code execution via unchecked file upload
Published Oct 26, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Unrestricted file upload in Wux Blog Editor 3.0.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to place arbitrary files on WordPress servers. The unauthenticated wuxbt_insertImageNew handler accepts a remote payload URL and attacker-chosen filename without enforcing an image type before writing the fetched content. A PHP payload stored in a web-accessible location executes under the web server account when requested, granting remote code execution.
