Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Oct 17, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in the dd-parallax shortcode in Parallax Image 1.8 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts. The shortcode handler incorporates user-controlled attributes into generated page markup without adequate sanitization or context-appropriate output escaping. Contributor-level access or higher is required to store the payload, which executes in a visitor's browser when the affected page is viewed.
