CVE-2024-9862Network attack vector

Unauthenticated account takeover via unchecked password change

Published Oct 17, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026

Authorization bypass in miniOrange OTP Verification with Firebase 3.6.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to change any WordPress user's password. The password-change handler in class-loginform.php trusts a user-controlled account reference and updates the target password without validating the current password or authorization. No authentication or user interaction is required, and selecting an administrator account grants control of that account.
