Stored script execution via unsanitized SVG uploads
Published Nov 16, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in augustinfotech SVG Case Study 1.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts through SVG uploads. The upload path accepts attacker-controlled SVG markup without sufficient sanitization, and the file-serving path returns that markup without output escaping. Author-level access is required; the script runs in a visitor's browser when the uploaded SVG is opened, enabling page-content modification and access to data available to that browser context.
