CVE-2024-9823Network attack vector

Service interruption via retained session trackers

Published Oct 14, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Denial of service in Eclipse Jetty DoSFilter before 9.4.54, 10.0.18, 11.0.18, or 12.0.3 allows remote attackers to exhaust server memory. With session tracking enabled, DoSFilter fails to remove USER_AUTH RateTracker entries, allowing repeated requests to retain state and consume memory. The attack is unauthenticated and affects deployments without session passivation or an aggressive session-inactivation timeout, ultimately interrupting service.
