CVE-2024-9701Network attack vector

Arbitrary code execution via pickle-backed session deserialization

Published Mar 20, 2025 · Updated Mar 20, 2025

Deserialization in Kedro before 0.19.9 allows attackers to execute arbitrary Python code through a crafted ShelveStore session file. ShelveStore.read() opens the session database with Python's shelve module and converts its entries to a dictionary, causing pickle-backed values to be deserialized without validation. Exploitation requires an attacker to place a malicious payload in the configured session-store file and have Kedro later read it; successful execution uses the Kedro process's privileges.
