CVE-2024-9693Network attack vector

Cluster read/write access via inactive membership query

Published Nov 14, 2024 · Updated Nov 15, 2024

Incorrect authorization in GitLab CE/EE Kubernetes agent access allows remote authenticated users to read and write cluster resources. The groups_with_direct_membership_for query joins records by user and access level but omits the active-membership scope, accepting unconfirmed requests and blocked accounts. Exploitation requires an authenticated account, an agent-authorized group, and knowledge of the agent ID; the result is full read/write access to the associated cluster.
