CVE-2024-9675

Host directory exposure via cache path traversal

Published Oct 9, 2024 · Updated Aug 7, 2026

Path traversal in Buildah before 1.38.0 allows local users to expose readable or writable host directories to a build container. GetCacheMount used filepath.Join on user-controlled cache IDs, destinations, and sources, so traversal segments escaped cache or context roots. The user must be able to run a crafted build, and access remains bounded by the host permissions of the account running Buildah.
