Stored XSS via unescaped remote-storage settings
Published May 15, 2025 · Updated May 16, 2025
Stored XSS in CYAN Backup before 2.5.3 allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to execute script in an admin browser. Remote-storage setting values are saved without sanitization and rendered without output escaping on plugin settings pages. Administrator-level access is required, and execution occurs when a privileged user views the stored payload; multisite can disallow unfiltered_html.
