Stored XSS via unescaped excluded-directory setting
Published May 15, 2025 · Updated May 16, 2025
Stored XSS in CYAN Backup before 2.5.3 allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to run script in an admin browser. The general-settings handler stores the excluded-directory textarea value without sanitizing it and renders that value without escaping, so a closing textarea tag injects script. Administrator access is required, and execution occurs when the options page reloads, including on multisite installations where unfiltered_html is disabled.
