Subscriber-level attachment upload via missing capability check
Published Oct 26, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in Editorial Assistant by Sovrn 1.3.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to upload attachments. The ajax_zemanta_set_featured_image AJAX handler processes attachment uploads and featured-image assignments without checking the caller's capability. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and exploitation can add permitted attachment types and change a post's featured image.
