Cross-user file disclosure via missing ownership check
Published Mar 20, 2025 · Updated Oct 15, 2025
Authorization bypass in Onyx 0.3.94 allows remote authenticated users to read other users' uploaded files through the chat API. The GET /api/chat/file/{file_id} handler accepts a caller-controlled file identifier and returns the matching file without verifying that the caller created or owns it. A valid account and a known or obtained file identifier are required; successful exploitation discloses the referenced file without granting write access.
