Stored script execution via unescaped creation-date setting
Published May 15, 2025 · Updated May 16, 2025
Stored XSS in AYS Pro Popup Box before 4.7.8 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through a popup setting. The popup editor stores the ays_pb_change_creation_date value without sufficient sanitization or output escaping, then renders it in the Settings tab. Administrator privileges and a multisite installation or another configuration that disables unfiltered_html are required; the script executes when a user opens the injected settings view and interacts with the field.
