User metadata disclosure via malicious SVG asset URL
Published Oct 11, 2024 · Updated Oct 11, 2024
Information disclosure in GitHub Enterprise Server 3.11.0 through 3.14.1 allows remote authenticated users to retrieve victim metadata. The SVG asset URL handler exposes metadata tied to the user who opens an attacker-uploaded SVG, although GitHub has not disclosed the faulty validation step. Exploitation requires an account that can upload the SVG and user interaction with its asset URL; the disclosed consequence is metadata exposure enabling more convincing phishing.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
