Administrator code execution via imported metabox callback
Published Nov 15, 2024 · Updated Nov 15, 2024
Code injection in Secure Custom Fields and Advanced Custom Fields PRO allows administrators to execute arbitrary PHP functions through settings imports. A crafted custom-post-type JSON import assigns an arbitrary function name to register_meta_box_cb, which WordPress invokes when the post editor loads. An administrator-level account and a subsequent visit to the crafted post type are required; the selected callback runs with the WordPress process's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
