Unauthorized data changes via unchecked AJAX callbacks
Published Oct 10, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in UserPlus 2.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to alter user metadata and plugin options. Three AJAX callbacks in admin/admin-ajax.php invoke WordPress user-meta and option mutation operations without checking the caller's capability. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and crafted requests can add, change, or delete stored user metadata and plugin configuration.
