Active Directory user enumeration via response discrepancy

Published Oct 4, 2024 · Updated Oct 7, 2024

Observable discrepancy in NetAdmin Software NetAdmin IAM 3.0 through 3.5 allows remote attackers to enumerate Active Directory users. The ReturnUserQuestionsFilled handler returns HTTP 200 with a no-questions message for an existing username but HTTP 500 for an invalid one. No authentication or user interaction is required; repeated comparisons disclose valid Active Directory account names for follow-on password attacks.
