Privilege escalation via installer DLL search order
Published Jan 24, 2025 · Updated Jan 27, 2025
DLL hijacking in Silicon Laboratories Flash Programming Utility 4.80 and earlier allows local users to execute arbitrary code. The Windows installer searches an uncontrolled path for required DLLs and loads an attacker-planted library instead of the intended one. Execution requires a user to run the impacted installer after a malicious DLL has been placed in a searched location; the code then runs with the installer's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
