Privilege escalation via installer DLL search path
Published Jan 24, 2025 · Updated Feb 12, 2025
Uncontrolled DLL search in Silicon Labs Configuration Wizard 2 4.50 and earlier allows local users to execute code with elevated privileges. The installer searches an attacker-controllable path for a DLL and loads the planted library without constraining the search to a trusted location. Execution requires a user to run the impacted installer, after which the planted DLL runs with the installer's privileges and can alter or interrupt the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
