Account takeover via unverified WordPress.com email
Published Oct 25, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Authentication bypass in AdvancedCoding wpDiscuz 7.6.24 and earlier allows remote attackers to access existing WordPress accounts. The WordPress.com callback in Login/Utils.php accepted the provider's email field without checking email_verified and matched it to a local user. The WordPress.com provider must be configured, the attacker must know the victim's email, and the victim must lack an existing linked account; an administrator match grants site control.
