CVE-2024-9479Network attack vector

Privilege escalation via unaudited subprocesses

Published Nov 20, 2024 · Updated Oct 7, 2025

Improper privilege assignment in upKeeper Instant Privilege Access before 1.2 allows attackers to run unapproved subprocesses elevated. The client agent's audit process validates an allowed parent application but fails to audit its subprocesses against the configured allowlist. Exploitation requires an approved application in the IPA elevation workflow; the resulting child process runs with privileges its executable was not granted.
