Service interruption via data-plane out-of-bounds write
Published Oct 9, 2024 · Updated Apr 30, 2025
An out-of-bounds write in Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS allows remote attackers to crash firewalls with a crafted data-plane packet. The data plane writes beyond a memory buffer while processing the packet; the vendor has not identified the affected routine or malformed field. Exposure requires Threat Prevention, signature 86467 on an Anti-Spyware profile, and CTD inspection of SSL handshake messages; repeated packets force maintenance mode.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
