Print-queue denial of service via raw JPEG
Published Oct 2, 2024 · Updated Oct 2, 2024
Denial of service in HP LaserJet MFP M232–M237 firmware before 20240813 allows remote attackers to block queued print jobs with a raw JPEG. The printer’s JPEG handling accepts the raw image, reports “JPEG Unsupported,” and leaves that error uncleared so later jobs remain queued. No authentication or user interaction is required; the bounded impact is interruption of printing rather than data access or device takeover.
