CVE-2024-9367Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Service interruption via unbounded changelog template parsing

Published Dec 12, 2024 · Updated Dec 12, 2024

Resource exhaustion in affected GitLab releases allows remote authenticated users to interrupt service via a crafted changelog template. GitLab's TemplateParser passes attacker-controlled changelog_config.yml content to the Parslet PEG parser without a time limit, allowing pathological input to consume CPU. An authenticated user must supply the project changelog configuration and invoke changelog generation; the resulting CPU load degrades or interrupts the server.
