Link following in containers/common before 0.60.4 allows remote authenticated users to expose host files through a container. MountsWithUIDGID joins an image-controlled FIPS backend path to the host mount point with filepath.Join, which follows a symlink outside the image root. FIPS mode must be enabled, and a malicious image containing the symlink must be run; the demonstrated consequence is access to sensitive host files.
