Database query manipulation via unsanitized department ID
Published Sep 28, 2024 · Updated Sep 30, 2024
SQL injection in SourceCodester Employee and Visitor Gate Pass Logging System 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to read database metadata. The fourth line of admin/maintenance/manage_department.php passes the unsanitized id parameter into database execution, allowing injected SQL syntax to change the query. Access to the administrative route is required; the published proof of concept retrieves the database name with a UNION SELECT payload.
