Unauthenticated file disclosure via URL path traversal
Published Sep 27, 2024 · Updated Sep 27, 2024
Path traversal in Netflix e2nest before commit 8a41948e553c89c56b14410c6ed395e9cfb9250a allows remote attackers to read server files. The mp4_byterange_view function joins an untrusted URL path beneath mp4_root and uses the string-based os.path.commonprefix operation without first resolving relative components, allowing the resulting path to escape that directory. No authentication or user interaction is required; exploitation exposes readable application, configuration, and host files without modifying them.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
