Author-level stored XSS via unsafe SVG uploads
Published Oct 4, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Re:WP 1.0.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users with Author access to inject scripts through SVG uploads. The plugin permits SVG media uploads without adequately sanitizing embedded script content or escaping it when the SVG is served. An Author-level account can store the payload, and script execution occurs when a user accesses the uploaded SVG, exposing that user's browser context.
