Code execution via uninitialized SID parser pointer
Published Nov 22, 2024 · Updated Nov 25, 2024
Uninitialized pointer access in IrfanView 4.66 allows remote attackers to execute code by convincing a user to open a crafted SID file. The SID parser accesses a pointer without properly initializing it while processing attacker-controlled file data. Exploitation requires user interaction, and successful code runs with the privileges of the current IrfanView process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
