Stored XSS via unsanitized SVG file uploads
Published May 15, 2025 · Updated May 17, 2025
Stored XSS in GrandPlugins AVIF Uploader before 1.1.1 allows remote authenticated users to run script through an uploaded SVG. The plugin accepts SVG uploads without sanitizing embedded script elements, so the payload remains in the media file and executes when the SVG is viewed. Author-level access is sufficient to store the file, and a separate user must view it for script execution in that user's browser context.
