Improper certificate validation in Puppet PEADM 3.8.0 through 3.23.x allows local users to intercept a Code Manager status check. The code_manager_enabled Ruby task creates an HTTPS client without VERIFY_PEER, so the client accepts a server certificate without authenticating the peer. Exploitation requires high local privileges, a positioned interception path, and passive execution of the affected task; a forged response can alter the check result.
