CVE-2024-9138Network attack vector

Root access via hard-coded credentials

Published Jan 3, 2025 · Updated Jan 3, 2025

Hard-coded credentials in Moxa router and security-appliance firmware allow remote authenticated users to gain root-level access. Moxa has not disclosed the credential, affected service, or invocation path; the firmware accepts an embedded secret as authority for root access. The network path requires existing high privileges, and successful use permits configuration changes, data exposure, and service interruption.
